Clearstone Energy is an independent, British renewable energy project developer. We originate, develop and deliver large-scale solar and battery storage projects across the UK. Our projects increase the availability of clean, low-cost energy in the UK and improve the resilience of the electricity grid.
Our core operating principle is to identify strategic locations across the UK where these projects are most effective at supporting the energy transition, allowing more renewable energy projects to connect to the grid and supporting more end users to make the shift from fossil fuels to electricity for transportation and heating.
Wired to deliver best in class projects
Our company is committed to developing best-in-class projects that aid the energy transition, enhance biodiversity and help local communities thrive.
Our experienced team has a proven track record of developing successful renewable energy projects across a range of technologies, from hybrid solar farms to large-scale transmission connection battery energy storage schemes. We work closely with landowners, local residents and councils to develop projects that meet the needs of the people and communities that host them.
Projects that go beyond energy generation
We believe that our projects can be more than just energy generators.
They can also serve as habitats for wildlife and contribute to the preservation of local ecosystems. That’s why we are committed to including a significant level of biodiversity enhancements within the design of our solar farms and energy storage projects.
We also believe that renewable energy projects should benefit local communities. For example, Clearstone allows for a series of annual payments to the local community to support the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. Reinvesting in local communities is not only the right thing to do, but it also makes good business sense. When local communities benefit from renewable energy projects, they are more likely to support them and encourage their growth.
Our mission is to accelerate the UK’s transition to renewable energy by developing innovative and sustainable solutions to the challenge of transforming a UK energy system built to run on fossil fuels.
The scale, speed and lack of precedents for the UK’s renewable energy transition creates a range of challenges – from grid connection queues through evolving public policy to lengthy planning processes – that threaten to derail projects and the transition itself.
Our technical expertise, creativity and agility enables us to find the solutions that are keeping the goal of a cleaner, lower cost and more secure UK energy system on track.
We were one of the first developers to deliver solar projects directly connected to the UK’s high voltage transmission network. We were the launch partner for the National Grid’s Energy Park programme, an innovative project designed to accelerate the connection of battery storage to the transmission network.
